Bad Experience at Rack Room Shoes,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]
I was very disappointed today when I tried to return a pair of shoes earlier today. Smiling,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I told the girl that did not have a receipt so a store credit would be fine. I also disclosed to her that the reason I was returning them was because I had tried to wear them out in my yard for 5 min. at most and they were very uncomfortable. She took one look at them and pointed out a small spec of dirt and said that since I had wore them she could not except them back (At this point a customer next to me rolled her eyes and said,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], "gees, what's her problem?). I then asked for another manager that might be a little more understanding. I was then greeted by another rude employee. She told me to go clean them off and then she would take them back. To which I replied "Are you serious?" She gave me a "go to hell" type look and said yeah. So, I toted my toddler out to the car and got a baby wipe to clean the shoes off. Then, there was a problem with the sku, so ultimately they would not take them back. At that point I was just ready to get out of the store, so I said fine, I'll find my receipt and return later. I cannot express the rude manner in which this was handled. The first girl, named Lee, never once smiled or offered no apology and the manager Vicky was every bit as rude. I cannot believe in this economy people are so willing to dispose of customers so easily by treating them so rudely. Some of these business need to realize that they are not the only game in town and consumers have a choice to spend their money where they get good service. I will NEVER EVER go back into that store.
I must say that I've never gone in Rack Room and expected good service. I got a pair of really cute copper-ish cowboy boots for $6 and a pair of Nine West brown boots for $10 last fall. And, in the spring,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I got a pair of Rocket Dogs for $8. You just have to be willing to look. Plus, you have to know what to expect. These aren't the days of family-owned and operated shoe stores where the clerks know your name and are willing to try 27 pairs of shoes on your feet just to find the one that works. These are the days of self-service. The clerks at Rack Room do their job much like the rest of the employees in that entire shopping center. Old Navy employees aren't overly helpful. TJ Maxx employees aren't overly helpful. Hastings employees aren't overly helpful. Perhaps if they were paid more than minimum wage, they might offer to help and be more cheerful in their helping without being asked to do so.
I don't expect them to cater to my every need and put the shoes on my feet. I don't think it's too much to ask, though, for them to muster up at least a half-a$$ smile and greet you when you check out. And maybe when they're finished a simple "Thank you" could be managed. But if I need a different size out of the back, I don't think it's too much to ask for them to go get it, even if they only make minimum wage,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], how hard is it to walk back, pick up a box, and act like you give a crap when you hand it to someone? When I was in highschool and college, I worked minimum wage jobs and I smiled and did my job because that's what it was,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], my job. Yes it sucked and yes the pay was crappy, but I chose to work there and I knew what the pay was when I signed on - just like the people who still work in retail places. It's called respect.
I went into the store today and was greeted with a friendly smile and a hello how are you doing today ? From a sales associate . The same sales associate asked me if I was doing ok and she greeted everyone else in the store as well. Although she wasn't the only one working , she was the only one doing anything. The manager Ashley was sitting on the floor talking to the other sales associate. I didn't get her name but she was fairly big and she was dressed very sloppy. I tho k her name was Ariel but I'm not sure. They were rude and the kept talking about sex, now it wouldn't have mad a difference to me because I'm grown and married so of course I understand but when my daughter over hears those types of conversations how do I explain that to her? I will never go into the Landstown Commons Rack Room Shoes again. The sales associate that was dressed properly, greeted everyone, and was actually working deserves a raise. Have someone else babysit your kids.

It's funny you talk about respect. Maybe there isn't any shoes in the back. Stores like rack room and famous footwear don't hold inventory in the back,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. Your just a lazy slob who wants to whine when your fat foot doesnt fit in something,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. Just accept the answer for the truth instead if being a moronic drama queen,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. Grow up.
