When told the price, the person attempted to negotiate a lower price, saying he could buy cheaper lobsters "at the dock," Roberts said. The manager held firm towards the stated list price, however, and the man requested four lobsters.
The manager got the lobsters from the tank and packaged them up for that man, who then took them to the leading of the store. Rather than waiting in line and paying for the lobsters in a check out, the man just left the front door, Roberts said.
The alleged theft is discovered a short time later once the manager asked other employees about if the man had taken care of the lobsters,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Roberts said. Other employees could not remember seeing the person in line at any of the registers, and realized he'd just left once they checked the security video.
The Ellsworth Police Department is asking the general public for help identifying the person. The incident was on Wednesday,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Sept. 5,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], not Monday, Sept. 10.
