Need help with Packard Bell easynote F7305
Hi all! I'm a new girl here and am hoping that someone (anyone!) can help me with my laptop.
Firstly,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it is a PB F7305 (just in case you didn't notice that on my title!) and is about 5 years old. I bought it for my college work and used it approximately 4 times. so since then it has been in retirement. I now have the need to start using it again but don't know where to begin!
I have to add that when I first bought it (from the hovel that is pc world) it wouldn't work properly without having the power supply plugged in,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], otherwise it would just switch itself down. I didn't think to return it at the time as I stupidly thought all laptops did that. How long after a full charge, should laptop work without the power plug on?
All opinions on this would be most welcome as I am totally clueless about laptops and would like to at least try and get this working before I give up and chuck it at the nearest wall!
Much thanks in advance guys. xx
In my opinion, you would be better off buying a new one (depending on your financial situation), although upon googling for your machine, im finding a top of the range machine that seems to be fairly new in technology,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], so I think Packard Bell must of brought an updated version of your machine out.
I think your machine is probably well outdated for 5 years, and if the battery is not charging,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], its either the battery itself gone,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], or a component inside (VERY EXPENSIVE TO FIX as its an older machine), so it would probably be more cost effective and more efficient to buy a new one.
^^ Scott,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I do not have money to burn! I just like to think I do. Lol!
I'm going to see if this PB lasts,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but if not then I shall have to sacrifice the usual girlie cant-live-without essentials like bags and shoes for a while in order to get a new one,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], pref a mac. I will be checking out the info on them first, as the only mac brand I'm used to is of the make up variety (just realised I've shown myself up there as a typical woman!).
As always though, your advice is much appreciated. Karma indeed. The PB shut itself down after using it sparingly for just over an hour. Word seems to be problematic too and it seems really slow in general. I was typing with it on my knee and it was really hot (no need for any pun thank you!) which I did not expect after just 10 minutes of use.
So now I am looking into getting a new laptop. I will be using it lots in the coming months and my two main choices at the mo are the sony vaio (sorry 'VAIO' lol!) and the apple laptop. I am thinking that the apple is going to be far too complicated for me though?! I am but a girl with more interest in bags than in laptops but I would like it to be fast, have good battery life and be light to carry around.
Using your knowledge of all things laptop-y (is there such a word? lol!), which do you think would be the best and less complicated to use? I will be using it for a lot of work stuff. Also,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I have read that Vista is problematic on the VAIOS and as I am used to xp, what is the difference?
I am going to try and sort out which laptop I want before I actually go to buy it as I hate being accosted by all the sharks at PC world and the like and I openly admit to being easy fodder for them! ha, ha, ha!
Muchos thanks in advance Scott. I promise I will stop pestering/boring you with my total lack of computer knowledge and need for info on stuff. Soon,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
You said it shut itself down, was this off charge? (if so,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], thats about right for the battery life of an older laptop), as well as this,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], you say its slow, again I think this is the fact that it is 5 yrs old, means its gonna have a small RAM and quite a slow processor (the two things you need for speed). As for the hot thing,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], they all do it,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], they produce a lot of heat, and when i have been using it on me knee, i feel my knee afterwards and its boiling.
You say the macs complicated, its not really from my expierience, its pretty much the same as using XP, aside from the way you open and shut programs and folders,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but its really wont take long to get used to (1 day at most).
As for the Vista, I'd take terristers advice,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], i also reverted back to XP, as its a pain (for now anyway), so mac OS would be better and more stable, macs also have the speed and lightweight and from my friends Ive been told they have great battery life. The things you want with laptops to enusure speed are processor, its measured in Gigahurts (GHz) and for a laptop anything over 1.5GHz is usually a good speed to get, and now adays dual core is definately the one to get as its the fastest (provided you can afford),[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], as for the RAM,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], anything 512mb or over is probably the best to get as it usually and for dual core it will probably be 1024mb.
As for the salesman,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], tell em to beat it, youre looking, and dont need help, always works for me (in PC world, dixons, comet etc),[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and then when your done choosing just say I want this one, and they usually run off to get it. They usually pesture because they want the commision lol. So if im pestured by say some bloke whos annoying me, I say im fine, just looking, and then when im done go find like a teenager, or a lady or just generally someone who hasnt bothered me, so they get the commision on the sale.
